Engineering Technician

Applies knowledge of engineering and sanitation facilities to independently complete construction plans, prepare draft construction specifications, and complete as-built drawings. Performs field surveys using electronic surveying equipment and electronic field book. Gathers field data to design community and individual sanitation facilities. Performs construction inspection for a variety of construction contracts. Assists project Engineer with portions of community system designs and in assembling contract provisions. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). Qualifications:
GS-4:
Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general work experience and 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-3 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
experience in utility construction to include surveying, drafting and construction inspection; experience in the use of computers and software to include email, word-processing, databases and spreadsheets; and surveying and/or using GPS systems to determine physical locations. OR Completion of 2 years of post secondary study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. OR A combination of specialized experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. GS-5:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
overseeing the installation of septic systems and water wells; septic system design; experience using computer aided drafting software, i.e., AutoCAD, Civil3D or higher and personal computer software, i.e. Microsoft Office; using GPS survey equipment, electronic total station equipment, electronic data collectors and surveying software; and interpreting construction plans and specifications. OR Completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor s degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. OR A combination of specialized experience and education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for the position. Your education must have included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. GS-6:
I have one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-5 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include:
overseeing the installation of individual and community water and sewer systems; experience in the design of septic systems and pump selection; evaluating and troubleshooting individual water and sewer systems; experience using computer aided drafting software, i.e., AutoCAD, Civil3D or higher and personal computer software, i.e. Microsoft Office; experience using GPS survey equipment, electronic total station equipment, electronic data collectors and surveying software; and interpreting construction plans and specifications for individual and community water and sewer systems. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
