Physical Therapy Assistant

A licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under direct supervision in an outpatient setting supervised by one or more Physical Therapists (PT). Independently provides treatment that promotes the prevention, remediation and rehabilitation of acute and chronic physical dysfunction. Provides physical therapy services within the Lawton Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) with oversight of the Neurology/ Rehabilitation Service at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. Services will be provided for Outpatient veterans with medical, neurological, post-operative orthopedic needs, including Durable Medical Equipment. Specialty Clinics such as Amputee, SCI or Wound Care may provide guidance for providing treatment for outpatient Veterans. Acts as coordinator of an outpatient spine specialty program, physical therapist student education clinical coordinator, telehealth educational program or as an outpatient specialty Total Joint Pathway program. United States Citizenship. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. Successful completion of an associate's degree from an accredited community college, junior college, college, or university in a physical therapy assistant education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Experience:
Minimum one year experience at an outpatient clinic with preferred orthopedic experience. Knowledge of Physical Therapy evaluations- tests and measurements and ability to integrate information into appropriate treatment plan. Knowledge of infection control procedures. Ability to learn and assimilate new information. Basic computer skills. Ability to communicate orally and in written form with patients, families and colleagues. Grade Determination:
GS-4 Experience. None beyond the basic requirements. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to perform chart review. Ability to obtain subjective history. Ability to interpret information gained through subjective history. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with the patient, the physical therapist, health care providers, and others. Grade Determination:
GS-5 Experience. In addition to the basic requirements, 6 months of experience comparable to the next lower grade level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs:
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to assess changes in physical, mental, and/or medical status. Knowledge of treatment techniques needed to assess changes in physical, mental, and/or medical status. Ability to recognize individual and cultural differences and respond appropriately in all aspects of physical therapy services. Grade Determination:
GS-6 Experience. In addition to the basic requirements, 1 year of experience comparable to the next lower grade level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs:
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of evidence based physical therapy practice. Knowledge of physical therapy data collection and ongoing assessment techniques in order to perform specified aspects of patient evaluation and interventions. Knowledge of basic biological and medical science to assess patient data; make a preliminary determination of their needs; develop treatment goals and objectives; and implement patient treatment plans. Grade Determination:
GS-7 Experience. In addition to the basic requirements, 1 year of experience comparable to the next lower grade level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs:
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to organize data, format that data into a presentation, and present information pertinent to patient care in formal or informal settings. Examples may include providing in-service training to staff or formal presentations to the treatment team. Knowledge of contemporary physical therapy practice. This may be demonstrated through continuing education courses, in-service training, or journal article reviews. Ability to independently implement selected components of interventions identified in the plan of care established by the physical therapist. The full performance level of this vacancy is 07. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of 04 to 07. References:

Frequent lifting up to 35 pounds with frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, overhead reaching and getting up and down from the floor may be required during the performance of this therapy position. Assistance should be obtained when lifting greater than 35 pounds.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
