Summary of Position
Provide friendly, responsive service in a clean and safe environment that all of our customers will enjoy. Create monthly menus that are nutritionally sound, cost effective and appealing to students, staff and parents. Conduct ongoing training with kitchen staffs in food safety, food cost, cooking technique and food presentation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare and cook food as per recipes and production records, create new recipes using commodities and purchased products, conduct taste testing's with students for new products and recipes.
Create student menus that are cost effective, appealing and nutritional balanced. Input menus into the nutritional analysis program. Place food and supply orders that meet the needs of each school while maintaining cost control measures. Conduct trainings with cooks in food safety, HACCP, food cost, cooking technique and food presentation. Work with the Cafeteria Manager to ensure quality workmanship. Assist Director of Dining Services with daily operation of district including but not limited to payroll, hiring, HR issues, school visits and manager meetings. Follow all local and SFE health regulations. Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the district as directed by the Director of Dining Services. Ensure that the Company's operations for which this position is responsible follow sound financial practices, comply with applicable legal requirements, and comport with established practices in all regards. Exercise sound judgment and discretion with respect to any matter not specifically addressed by the Company's policies. Ultimate responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the activities and operations related to the site to which you are assigned and for those duties within the scope of this position's responsibilities. Supervision and evaluation of subordinate employees. Submitting reports as directed and in compliance with deadlines. Other functions, duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or which are necessary or appropriate to the position.
Required
Experience:
Successful completion of all interviews, background investigations and fingerprint clearance requirements (as applicable) prior to employment.
Submission of all employee-related documents and forms free of false, misleading and/or incomplete information prior to employment.
Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the district's student population.
Sensitivity and respect for people of various backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and socio-economic situations.
Have knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least three years of front-of-the-house operations and/or assistant management positions.
Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with other Managers, Directors, Administrators, students and parents.
Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register or POS system.
Must have basic knowledge and understanding of the following computer programs: Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook.
